Research Opportunities Week at TUM
Brief introduction of the institution hostingthe program:
The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is one ofEurope’s top universities. It is committed to excellence in research andteaching, interdisciplinary education and the active promotion of promisingyoung scientists. The university also forges strong links with companies andscientific institutions across the world. TUM was one of the first universitiesin Germany to be named a University of Excellence. Moreover, TUM regularlyranks among the best European universities in international rankings.
Main content of the program:
Once a year the Technical University of Munich (TUM) selects 50 youngscientists from all over the world and invites them to the ResearchOpportunities Week (ROW) in Munich. During this week, the participants have theopportunity to visit different research facilities at TUM, to meet Professorsof their disciplines, to inform themselves about possible postdoc fundingopportunities in Germany and to create a scientific network.
Enrollment Target/Admission object:
If you are an excellent young researcher (PhD not older than 20.4.17 orPhD students in their final year) we encourage you to come to Munich and applyuntil 31.10.19.
You may apply for the Research Opportunities Week ifyou
1. are currently not living in Germany. Applicantsof German nationality or persons who have previously lived in Germany arewelcome to apply if they are applying from abroad and are not currentlyresiding in Germany.
2. have completed a PhD within the last 3 years atan institution other than TUM. The period is calculated from the month of theResearch Opportunities Week, so if you completed your PhD after April 2017, youare eligible. If you did your PhD at TUM, you are not eligible to apply.
or have recently submitted your PhD thesis at aninstitution other than TUM.
or are going to submit your PhD thesis within thenext 12 months.
3. If you have completed a PhD in one of theresearch fields listed on TUM Departments, TUM Integrative Research Centers, orTUM International School of Science and Engineering.

Assessment and credits:
All applications are reviewed by an independent scientific board whichconsists of experts from the all respective fields of research. Allapplications will be evaluated with regard to the following criteria:
scientific excellence, qualification and career perspectives of theapplicant
quality of the motivation letter and the letter of support
synergy with TUM hosts and departments
prospects to obtain the TUFF Fellowship and further third party funding.

Researchers can submit their application for the 11th ResearchOpportunities Week between September and October 31, 2019 via our applicationportal. The link to the portal will be posted on this website:https://www.tum.de/nc/en/research/postdocs/research-opportunities-week/
