Thewinners of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2020 were announced recently. Three worksdesigned by postgraduate students from the Zhejiang University School ofSoftware Technology clinched the iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD: “Anchor Helen”, “SweetBreath” and “Alcohol Less”.

“AnchorHelen” is a device designed for blind voice anchors, including two modules: aBraille teleprompter and a recording microphone. “We do hope that everyone isentitled to lead a better life as we are and that the world will be teemingwith love and care,” said one of the team members.

“SweetBreath” is a customized breathing trainer for a special cohort of children withasthma. It aims at helping children recover more efficiently and reducephysical and psychological pain and discomfort associated with the diseasethrough a playful and interactive experience. This work also won the iF RED DOTDESIGN AWARD.

“AlcoholLess” is a glass designed for those who cannot binge-drink. “We observe thatthere is a cartoon figure in the middle of a beautiful crystal ball. The ballis transparent and aesthetically appealing. With liquid flowing in it, it lookslike a glass filled with wine. The raised figure in the middle can squeeze outsome of the liquid. It is where our flash of inspiration comes from,” said SHI Yuhong,a postgraduate student in Industrial Design Engineering. Those who cannot drinka lot of wine can use this glass which serves dual purposes. They can expresstheir respect for others and satisfy their real need to drink less. “Healthwarnings don’t have to be somber and dry. This is a product that helps peopledrink in moderation,” remarked the jury of the iF DESIGN AWARD 2020.
